'SHARPSHOOTERS' - ALL TIME TOP SCORERS

The most precious commodity in football is goals. Ballingarry AFC recognises the art that is goalscoring in their players and present players who score 50 competitive goals for the club with an award. Likewise when a player hits the “Ton”, the club also makes a presentation to commemorate the achievement.

Just three players have hit the 50 and the 100 goal milestones for Ballingarrry AFC and only goals scored during competitive games are recorded.

.: Padraig Forde - 118 goals
Padraig FordeOne of the few Ballingarry players to score on his debut when he did so against Villa Rovers during a Division 1 fixture on May 19th 1989 in a 3-0 win. He would carry on to set several club goal scoring records.

His ten league cup goals is a club record as is his nine FAI Junior Cup goals while he shares the record of most Munster Junior Cup goals with five. He scored seven hat tricks including one four goal haul which equals the most scored in a single game, only the second player to do so, while he is the only Ballingarry player to score a Desmond cup hat trick. He also shares the record of the clubs' season top scorer having scored the most during six seasons.Padraig Forde

He scored his 100th competitive goal against Breska Rovers on March 12th 2000 during a Division 1 fixture which was a scoring average of just over one goal every two games. All but one of his goals came from open play, when he equalled the old club record of 114 goals with a penalty against Ferry Rangers in the Munster Junior Cup. Although he played for his League he never scored for them.

Eight of his goals were for the B Team, while injury saw his career end somewhat prematurely.

.: Shane Hartnett - 114 goals
Shane HartnettAmazingly Hartnett started his career as a goalkeeper when he played during the clubs' first ever junior fixture in September 1984 against Askeaton B and it wasn't until the regular centre forward, James Clancy, sustained injury late that season that Hartnett was moved up front.

His first ever goal arrived in the very last game of that season against Kilfinny in a Division 2B fixture. At some point in his career he held almost every goalscoring record for the club and to this day still holds the most number of hat tricks with nine. He was the first player to score four in a game, the first to reach both the 50 goal (22/11/87 V Kilfinny (a) Division 2) and 100 goal (2/12/1990 v Askeaton A (a) Division 1) mark for the club. He was the clubs top goalscorer for six seasons on the trot from 1985/86 to 1990/91 while his 26 strikes during season 1985/86 (Div 3) and 1987/88 (Div 2) remain the most goals scored in one season by a club player.

His 90 league goals is also an existing record as is his seven Desmond cup goals.Shane Hartnett  An extraordinary fact from his career is that all his goals came from open play having never taken a penalty for the club or scoring from a free.
He also represented the Desmond District League in the Oscar Trainor competition where he scored one goal against the Clare and District League. His nine hat tricks is still a club record having scored a hatrick in every division he played in. All but three of his goals were scored for the clubs' A Team.
His scoring average makes highly impressive reading with his 114 goals coming during 167 games a career that spanned just nine seasons.

.: Denis Kelly - 50 goals
Denis KellyBefore signing for Ballingarry at the start of the 2002/03 season, Kelly had proved himself a prolific scorer with neighbours Granagh United. He scored on his first appearance for his new club against Glantine Rovers on August 17th 2002 in what was a Division 1 League Cup group game, a match Ballingarry won 2-1 away.

Always the man for the big occasion he wrote himself into the clubs' history books when he scored the second and insurance goal against Foynes when Ballingarry clinched the Division 1 title in 2002/03 in his first season. However his finest moment in a Ballingarry shirt was without doubt when he scored the only goal of the game against Rathkeale at Clounreask on May 23rd 2004 to clinch Ballingarrys' first ever Premier Division title. Also during that season he equalled the match haul with four in one game and considering that it was against Newcastlewest in a Premier Division fixture probably makes it a greater achievement than the two previous players who also hit four in a single game.Denis Kelly

Has scored in every competition that he has played in for Ballingarry with the exception of the Munster Senior Cup while he scored Ballingarrys' only goal in their Premier Division Cup Final defeat against Rathkeale in 2004/05. His exploits in front of goal for Ballingarry saw him play inter league for the Limerick Desmond League in 2003/04 but unfortunately he wasn't on the scoresheet during their campaign.

His 50 goals have come during 114 games for the club, which averages just under a goal every two games, a strike rate that any centre forward would be proud of.
